Today was a wet, cold miserable excuse for a spring day. I had an allergic reaction late last night and had to take Benadryl at eleven o'clock at night, which left me drowsy all day. Jack is off his schedule, so he was up at five o'clock in the morning, oh the joys of little people! He's been a bit cranky all day and I wondered if he was feeling under the weather, so I waited until Kyle got home from work to take my daily ride.
Look how lonely my departure shot looks without Mr. Smileypants on board! I missed my little co-pilot, but I was also happy for some "me" time. I didn't even get rained on the entire time and took a nice low speed, easy ride as that was all the energy I could muster.
There is something very enjoyable about riding after the rain, when everything smells fresh and clean, but there was nothing extraordinary about the ride in itself, although as always it was lovely and I feel better getting out there and doing it. I'm still trying to come up with a plan for May, as I'd like to take on a similar challenge, if you have any ideas please share them with me!
I
nice to see you still rode today after all the drama!
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to comment to you about this: The National Bike Challenge - This free program runs May 1 to August 31 with the goal of uniting 50,000 people to bike 10 million miles. I want to sign up, but will probably wait until April 30th to do so since that's how I roll.
ReplyDeleteI signed up! was thinking of making a team for cargo biking bloggers haha...might be fun! Thanks for the heads up!
DeleteYou should sign up for the National Bike Challenge. That will get you riding from May 1st - Aug 31st.
ReplyDeleteI signed up - thanks Luke!
Delete"there was nothing extraordinary about the ride in itself"
ReplyDeleteYou know,I often say this same statement on my blog of some of my rides (usually the ones I have no pics of),but we're both wrong...there IS something extraordinary about each ride...I mean, think about it,if not for luck/blessing,we each could have been born in a different time,or part of the world where there is no riding,we could be too ill, handicapped,or otherwise unable to ride,or...gasp...not cyclists by choice (say it couldn't be so!),always appreciate the little things in life, especially the little rides, for we know not which will be our last :)
That said,I too like riding after a rain (just not during :p). I have no idears on May,other than perhaps what's mentioned by the other comenters :)
The Disabled Cyclist
Hey T.D.C. really, I'm learning, even an average ride beats anything else I could be doing;)
