Day 23 of 30 days of biking - we've come so far

With a departure shot like this, it had to be a good ride! My crazy husband was ready to go ride as soon as he got home from work today, we got out on the driveway, took this picture and then he say's "want to trade bikes tonight?" I considered it and thought it would be a nice change, why not...so we adjust the saddles and set off. Over the last few months many people have suggested I take Kyle's bike out to give myself a little change of pace and to be honest I was a little apprehensive about the idea. What if I liked Kyle's bike more then mine? What if it was so much easier I no longer wanted to ride the Yuba Mundo? Oh I should have done it a long time ago! I was so uncomfortable, so awkward and out of balance that I only made it a about a mile before I was begging for my Mundo back...and kyle? Well, he wanted to keep it. Now obviously this is nothing against Kyle's bike, its more that my Mundo is so incredibly smooth, comfortable and chilled.

So it's official- we need to add another bike to the fleet. We're hoping a little later in the year we will get a third bike- something similar to my Mundo but not necessarily as beefy. These relaxed-ride bikes just suit our lifestyle a little better and honestly, whats not to love about my big orange bike?

The ride today was pretty short, just over 3 miles.  I could have rode for longer but Kyle suspects there may be something amiss with his bike, so we headed home. I was glad we had the sun canopy for Jack today, because we almost hit the 90's and even at around 6pm it was still very hot.  It really got me thinking about the struggles this year still has planned for me, like when summer really rolls around and we start getting high temperatures everyday.  Right now, outside, we are having the most brilliant display of lightening and the rain is warm, a perfect end to a really nice day.

  1. Yay!! for mother natures fire works. We used to really enjoy sitting in the garage watching the lightening and counting to see how far away it was.

  2. Nice to see the funny side of Kyle for a departure shot :p

So a 3rd bike but not nessesarily as beefy...do you mean as big,or designed to haul as much? I ask because in my researching options (bikes) of this style my own self recently,I see Kona now has a Mini-Ute,slightly smaller (and less expensive) version of the Ute.

Personaly,I think my own decision has been made. While a Mundo is a bit out of budget for the immediate time,it's what I've decided I want,so I'm saving towards it. Your and Kyle's experience with your own was an influence, but in the end,the biggest factor being the design of the bike and the company's philosophy and lifestyle clinched it for me :) Hoping for a blue one :p

    1. T.D.C. woot woot a Mundo for you! You will not regret it for a second! I have always managed to raise a ton having craigslist sales or garage sales, I;m sure you'll have it in no time! Or you may find a shop like mine, my LBS let me make a few payments and still take the bike home. (They know me pretty well).
Yes, Kyle has a very goofy side- keeps me laughing.
I'm not sure about our third bike yet- I have some ideas but kind of want to keep it hush hush haha! That way I can make it a surprise!

Guys...we're ALWAYS trying to make our significant lady laugh,LOL,I know I spend most of my time doing so-that's just one way that he shows you how important you are to him :)

And no worries,I won't keep guessing,I'll wait patiently until you guys pull the canvas off the new bike (...LOL,me? "Patiently"??? Rolling in the floor LOL'ing :p)

  3. I may be looking to part with a Ute sometime toward the middle of the summer, would sure love to see it go to a good home. I'm not certain yet, though, still considering my options for toting the kids around as they get older.
